Noises problem
1986 Other Subaru Models 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 72000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
'86 Subaru GL 1800 hatchback. I've just had the muffler, catalyitic converter and the right rear wheel bearing replaced (mechanic said the left rear bearing was OK) but the car still makes a constant roaring noise which seems to come from the rear end. Replacing the right rear wheel bearing seems to have gotten rid of the rhythmic thrumming that accompanied the roaring noise but the roaring still remains. More at higher speeds than lower and, for some weire reason, not in the morning but only in the afternoon (weird.) Also, when I take a left turn at about 55mph and over, as I come off the interstate and onto a left turning exit ramp, then the whole rear end shudders badly until I take my foot off the gas and get under 50mph.
Ideas?
Thanks.
