Electrical problem

hi there,
while repairing the car, I inadvertently hooked up what i thought was a disconnected male/female connector. now the dash guage does as follows\
when you turn on the ignition the coolant gauge pegs to the right. the fuel guage pegs to the right
when operating the turn signals the coolant gauge will tick tock in unisen with the turnsignals!
have i grounded the dash unit? the turn signals all work. i replaced the relay to the hazards/t.sigs no change I have ordered the shop manuel but its on back order, any ideas?
