My son's car died today and was towed to a gas station who told him he needed a new battery and oil. He bought the battery from them, paid 75.00 and had 15.00 worth of oil put in. He got back onto the highway and made it approx. 8 miles before the car died again and wouldn't start. This is a Delta 88, with a rebuilt engine at 150,000. Could it be the alternator? If so, what should this now cost to be repaired and do we go back to the gas station that sold him the battery and tell them that they saw a "kid" and sold him the wrong thing? Is it possible that the dip stick was not put back properly? Would this have caused it?
