1985 BMW 318 I only have 2nd gear

Transmission problem
1985 BMW 318 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 158000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I was driving along in the car when I suddenly lost the heater and some gauges. When I stoppod at the next light I could only use second gear. I have checked the fuses. Is it a coincidence that it happen at the same time or a wring problem

sounds like the shift platform is in need of repairs. you will need to get under the car to fix this issue. it is a manual transmission, yes?

Yes it is a 5speed manual . I have read that it is an electrical problem in the newer ones.

It is possible the shift platform has loose or broken mounts. Get under the car and inspect the shifting linkage and repost if needed.
