Engine Mechanical problem
1984 Toyota Cressida 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 116k miles
This is car was a gift from my mother in law to my son, 16years old.
I already spent over $1K with this car. Now I learned that it needs a engine gasket repair/substitute parts.
Problem: Lots of smoke starting coming out of the car - white color. The mechanic that help helped my spouse said that it needs gasket repair and that it would cost over $600.00. This car/model/year has very little market value, and I don't want to spend much money to repair, BUT I AM WILLING TO DO IT WITH MY SON, for learning purpose and to have some mechanical bonding with my son. I always have been a good learner, but I am not a mechanic, I need to learn "how to change gaskets in a toyota crescida", where should a buy parts, do suggest any litrature?, do I need special tools: To learn something I don't question money.
