Engine Performance problem
1983 Jeep CJ7 V8 Four Wheel Drive Manual 200000 miles

I installed a Chevy 1994 5.7L engine in to my jeep. When hot the jeep spudders really bad and sometimes dies. If I let the jeep set for about 30 minutes or more, it will restart. However, it more common when going up an incline I get a lose of power and feels like it is starving for fuel.
I was wondering if I was experiencing vapor lock since it does restart after it cools off. However, it is a TBI. Since this is a transplant, I did install an electric fuel pump from Napa Auto. However, I did not install a fuel regulator. Where is the regulator suppport to go and can this cause the problem?

Check the fuel pressure and also for restriction in the exhaust system-

I noticed that the catalytic converter is bluish purple in color too. I've read other forums that the return line on a non-tbi is to small when converting to a tbi system. Is this true? I'll looking at buying a fuel pressure guage so I can check the psi at the tbi.
Is the pressure regulator built in to the tbi or is it external?

will do. It will most likely be later this week. I have to order a guage.

Can the catalytic converter be causing any of the exhaust restriction you mentioned prior? I don't get the strong sulfer smell, but I noticed the discoloration of it.

Can a smaller return fuel line cause a back pressure?

I finally received and installed my fuel pressure gauge. When I turn the key to running position, I get 5psi. When I start the engine, I get 8psi. Sounds like my pump is a little short of the 13psi.

My current pump is a universal pump from Riebes. Doing some more research, I find that the Master E8153 pump is recommended pump for my conversion.
