Engine Mechanical problem
1979 Lincoln Continental V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 35000 miles

My lincoln starts and runs fine for about 8 miles then it misses like its running on 3 or 4 cylinders.It wont accelerate but when i stop it stalls and then straight away i start it again and it runs great.Im confused by this as it does not smoke at all.Its had new ht leads,distributor cap,filters,and a new carb.What can cause this.

Have you looked at the carb when it dies before restart? be sure the choke isnt falling shut.Could be an iginition module or pick-up coil in the distributor shorting as well
