Engine Performance problem

Truck won't stay idling after engine start. When problem started, engine was idling rough....then died and had to jump it and keep it running by riding the brake. I just reground the cable and cleaned the posts...changed the fuel filter and I have a new fuel pump waiting to be installed. Any suggestions?

Well, I have to keep the accelerator pressed or it will die. Riding the brake is just so I can keep driving when I have to stop at lights or signs.

When the last time you gave it a major tune-up? try adjusting the idle speed screw and also check the ignition timing

About a year ago....but I have been gone for a while and it has set. It has new MSD wires, rotor, plugs, and was running pretty good before I left. But it has sat for about 6-8 months without running. Seems the battery won't hold the charge after it has been started and I have to feather the pedal to keep it from dying in park. It dies and won't turn over, like the battery is dead....

Get the alternator and battery load tested-if it checks out test the ignition switch/neutral safety switch and starter
