Engine Performance problem
1975 Chevy Nova V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 2000 miles
TH350 auto, street tires, rear end 3.08:1 Limited Slip, exhaust manifolds, flowmaster 40s,
okay i just got a brand new crate 350 HO from GM. had someone put it in. The engine is supposed to have 330 HP and 380 ftlb trq. I realize that the power goes down thru the drive train, but I believe there is something aloof. I get 11 seconds 0-60!? That is slower than i would like. It is slow but it burns out decent. when i start it, it takes a few seconds of rolling over to start, and takes a little bit of time to get to where i can punch it down without it bogging
down. when in idle it idles high sometimes and i have to quickly give it gas to idle down. but other than that it runs like a charm, its just a little slow.
I thought it may be the carb secondaries not opening properly but i am not sure. Holley.com says they will not open in N or P. So i powerbraked and saw that they did not open (at least i don't think so) I WAS JUST WANDERING IF ANYONE KNEW WHAT MIGHT POSSIBLEY BE WRONG.
a little info on my engine:

Check base timing first. Next check all vacuum lines.
Best solution is to have it tested on a chassis dyno with a wideband O2 sensor and check your air/fuel ratio. |
