Engine Performance problem
1963 Dodge Dart 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic
my 63 dodge dart has idle for over 3 yrs, when I tried to start it,(pour some gas in the carb.) the engine crank over but it would not stay on. It has gas in the tank, but is not flowing to the carb. Could it the fuel pump? If it is how do I test it? or is it something else? |

I could be the fuel pump, it could also be the carb need a good cleaning too. If it sat (i assume, check you spelling) for that long with fuel in the floats it could have a nasty coating on it. Carb rebuild kits are cheap and are not that hard to do. The fuel pumps for you car are rather inexpensive too. Also your fuel filter could be clogged or lines hard to tell from here.
If you have a fuel pressure gauge hook it up and check to make sure you have close to 8 psi (if I remember correctly).
Best of luck |
