Change Engine Oil and Filter VideoThis video contains basic motor oil and filter change visual information designed to aid basic motor oil and filter change procedure. Changing the engine oil and oil filter on your car protects the engine from a catastrophic failure. Engines have many moving parts that are designed to have more power output that demand high quality oils and filters. Engine maintenance is important for anyone wanting to keep their car in good working order. If engine oil and filter service is neglected the engine can suffer internal component failure and stop running. Always use manufacturer’s recommendation for engine oil and filter type and oil type and weight. Before you start, park the vehicle on level ground, with the emergency brake on, also block the rear wheels on both sides of the tire to prevent wheel roll. Once the oil and filter have been removed they must be taking to a oil and filter reclamation center. A local auto parts or service station can accommodate you. Always refill your engine until the oil dip stick indicates full. Start the engine and allow the engine to run for a short time (about 2 minutes) and rechecking the oil level. When the oil filter is replaced it is empty and needs to fill wilt oil, it does this while the engine is running. When removing the oil filter be sure the oil filter sealing gasket is one the old filter and not on the engine block. The new oil filter comes with a new gasket, if the old gasket is allowed to remain on the engine block with the new gasket it will fail and start a severe motor oil leak.
